Happy Halloween...

Dsc_0058from the Cat in the Hat! Em's had her costume on three different occasions, so Dsc_0123you might see a difference in whiskers.  Dsc_0068 So fun to see the sparkle in her eye when people would dish out the treats!

I asked Em, "Did you have fun trick-or-treating?" She said, "Yeah, mama, just one scary guy."

Quick note to the neighbor, Please take off your scary mask when a 2.5 year old shows up at the door.Thank you very much! Duh.

Hope you had a great night! Happy Halloween!

Great article

Came across this article and thought it was so good I wanted to share. There are three pages, so be sure to click on the tabs to read the full story. It got me all misty.

I agree with what the author said about adoption being a "complicated privilege". Oh how I wish that Em's first mother could know that she is TRULY an amazing child and that she is loved beyond measure. I still hold out hope that since Em was found in a tiny village and brought to the orphanage in a smaller (in Chinese terms!) town, that if she decides she wants to look for her first family we will have a good chance to do so.

This article seems to have offended some people and I just don't get why. What do you think?

Four Kitties

We were waiting at the DMV the other day and they had a table with color crayons andDsc03583 to color. Em colored a bit and then, as she always does, flipped the paper over to draw what she wanted paper with images to draw on the white side. (Which I love!)

She's been making circles and lines since she was...hmm..18 months, maybe earlier. But yesterday she drew "Four Kitties" that actually looked like four kitty faces (okay so two of them aren't as clear) but I was blown away at what she had done.

She talked her way through the second one while she drew it, "Loot Mama...two eyes...mouf...nose...two "tiny" ears..." and then she drew whiskers, even though she didn't know what to call them. I asked her if they were whiskers and she said yes.

I still can't believe how cute these little kitties are and you all know that I've got it framed, dated and matted and sitting on display.
